چکیده

The pollen morphology of 23 Allium L. species, grown in Turkey, belonging to the sections; Rhizirideum, Schoenoprasum, Cepa, Molium, Brevispatha, Scorodon, Acanthoprason and Melanocrommyum, were investigated by LM (light microscopy), TEM (transmission electron microscope), SEM (scanning microscopy). This paper presents detailed morphological features are given for these taxa. Common characteristics species ellipsoidal heteropolar, bilateral symmetry; grains shed as monads. They monosulcate (extended sulcate types) monosulcate-operculate. sculpturing exine, membrane ornamentation, lumina shape, sulcus with a fragmented operculum found be characteristic separating species. Based on properties three main types determined different exine sculpturing. structures observed micrographs, striateperforate, striateregulate-perforate regulate-perforate. Sulcus ornamentations psilate, psilate-perforate, rugulate is semitectate tectum perforate. Columellae simplicolumellate. Bangladesh J. Plant Taxon. 30(1): 1-19, 2023 (June)

Allium ekimianum is described here as a new species. This taxon belongs to the genus Allium section Allium and grows in Elazığ Province (East Anatolia, Turkey). It is a narrowly distributed species and morphologically most similar to Allium asperiflorum and Allium sintenisii, and Allium erzincanicum but it is clearly differentiated due to the curved stem, smooth pedicel surfaces, bracteole arra...

Allium therinanthum, a new species of A. sect. Codonoprasum, is described and illustrated from southern Mt. Hermon (Israel). It is a late-flowering diploid species (2n = 16), growing on calcareous substrates of the mountain belt. It is a narrowly distributed geophyte, showing morphological relationships mainly with A. tardiflorum, a typical autumnal species also occurring in Israel within the p...

Pollen Morphology of Some Turkish Crocus L. (iridaceae) Species

The genus Crocus L. (Iridaceae) comprises about 80 species distributed mainly in the Mediterranean region. It is widely dispersed in Turkey; at present about 67 taxa (including subspecies and varieties) are recognized there (Mathew, 1984, 1988, 1995, 2000; Kerndorff and Pasche, 2003, 2004). The Turkish Crocus species have received attention by several workers, who have concentrated mainly on mo...

Comparative Analysis of Amaryllidaceae Alkaloids from Three Lycoris Species.

The major active constituents from Amaryllidaceae family were reported to be Amaryllidaceae alkaloids (AAs), which exhibited a wide spectrum of biological activities, such as anti-tumor, anti-viral, and acetyl-cholinesterase-inhibitory activities. In order to better understand their potential as a source of bioactive AAs and the phytochemical variations among three different species of Lycoris ...
